Mission Statement
Japan Sales Circle (JSC) is dedicated to empowering non-Japanese-speaking executives with the sales tools and sales knowledge necessary to thrive in Japan's unique business environment. By operating entirely in English, our mission is to bridge the language gap, provide insights into sales specific topics in Japan, enhance sales acumen, provide deep insights into Japan-specific sales challenges, and foster meaningful professional networking, thereby facilitating and fortifying non-Japanese-speaking senior executives’ informed decision-making while conducting business in Japan.
Why Was Japan Sales Circle Founded?
Navigating the intricacies of sales in Japan has been a significant challenge for non-Japanese-speaking expatriate senior managers, primarily due to the scarcity of accessible information and a pronounced language barrier. Unlike in English-speaking countries, where sales publications, research, success stories, and networking opportunities are plentiful, the language barrier in Japan complicates effective communication with customers, company employees, and distribution agents, creating a considerable gap in sales information that adversely affects decision-making for the expatriate senior manager operating in Japan.
Drawing from my personal experience as a sales manager in Japan during the 1980s and after conducting thousands of classroom/field sales training sessions over the past 20 years, I understood the profound disadvantages of operating without adequate sales related information.
This insight led to the creation of Japan Sales Circle, aimed at closing this critical information gap.
JSC offers a multi-dimensional platform that provides expatriate managers with access to:
- Space for discussing sales-related issues, where experienced presenters share their insights, both their successes and failures, offering members practical, field related knowledge.
- Original and curated, translated local written material, available in English, covering Japanese sales topics, case studies, and other sales related content. This resource helps JSC members stay informed about local sales trends, tools, and methodologies.
- A trusted network for expatriates to share their experiences in a confidential setting, JSC also promotes a deeper understanding of local culture and customs.
Ultimately, Japan Sales Circle was founded to equip non-Japanese-speaking expatriate senior managers in Japan with the necessary resources and insights to successfully navigate and thrive in the complex landscape of Japanese sales environment.
